How To Find Affordable Health Insurance in the State of Arizona

Arizona Affordable Health InsuranceThe state of Arizona has a Medicaid agency, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) which serves low-income Arizona residents with a number of health care programs for those who meet the income guidelines.

They include temporary health insurance for children, called KidsCareII, for children 18 and younger whose family's income is 100%-175% of the Federal Poverty Level. Children 19 and under can qualify alone through KidsCare, and there are no monthly premiums.

There are also health insurance programs for adults without children, pregnant women, adults 65 and older, those with disabilities, and those who need nursing or in-home health care. Adults with incomes below $931/month ($1261 for adult and spouse) can qualify to have their medicare premiums, co payments and deductibles paid. There is a health care plans just for American Indians through Indian Health Service by enrolling in American Indian Health Program (AIHP).

All of these programs are offered through AHCCCS. Arizona also has a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) that is funded by federal agencies and offering healthcare assistance through the Department of Economic Security, Division of Aging and Adult Services and Arizona's Area Agencies on Aging. Help with Medicare prescription drug coverage, long term care insurance and Medigap insurance is available through this program.
