How to Find Affordable Health Insurance in the State of California

California Affordable Health InsuranceCalifornia offers a large number of health care and health insurance programs for low-income individuals and families, people with disabilities, children, and those who have lost their insurance, just to name a few.

CaliforniaKids is a charitable organization that offers medical, dental, mental and prescription drug coverage for $75 per month per child for children 2-18. California Children's Services is for children under 21 with disabilities whose family income is under $40,000 per year. The Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) program helps women who don't have insurance that covers their pregnancy or whose maternity only insurance deductible or co-payment is over $500.

Medi-Cal is available for people who are 65 or older, blind, pregnant, disabled, in a nursing home or diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer. Those who don't qualify for free Medi-Cal can apply for the Healthy Families program, an insurance program that provides medical, dental and vision health insurance for children and teenagers. Federal Income Guidelines apply for both programs.

California's Partnership for Prescription Assistance program offers no-cost or low-cost prescription medications. Medical assistance is also offered through California's County Medical Services Programs.
